Encore Airing Now: Radio Show – Episode 1 – April 3, 2016

Here is the play list for our first ever program of Forest Halls Celtic, slightly updated for current airing. Episode 1 offers the playful natural magic and beauty of springtime, a ninth century Irish poem, and Jane Valencia’s retelling of the Irish myth, “Airmid’s Herbal Cloak.” Hear harp in the music of Ann Heymann, Mary Macmaster and Patsy Seddon (in Clan Alba), and Shelley Phillips (in Orison).

Radio Show – Episode 41 – Into the Birch Grove – January 5 and 12, 2020

The enchantment of the Birch tree is about cleansing and renewal: a welcome energy for beginning a new year and decade. Episode 41 “In the Birch Grove” features favorite Irish songs and melodies, some 16th century English dance tunes, and some lovely and intriguing contemporary music. Along the way, enjoy some folklore, a bardic poem by Kevan Manwaring,  a tree magic tale of the Birch, and harp in the music of Déanta, Julia Cunningham, and Anne Roos.

Episode 40 – Radio Show – Midwinter Magic – December 22 and 29, 2019

Celebrate the season with Celtic and Celtic-inspired music, folklore, poetry, and a tale in which we help the sun take wing. We’ll enjoy a sparkling landscape of beautiful and lively tunes to honor the illuminated Dark, and to beckon the Sun to return. Pure enchantment!

Harp music  is sprinkled through the show. Enjoy the song and harp of Beth Gadbaw and Margot Krimmel (respectively),  and harp by Debra Knodel,  Órla Fallon in Celtic Woman, Kim Robertson, and a mystery harper or two (if you can identify them, please let me know!).

The second hour of the show is the rebroadcast of Episode 19 – Midwinter Day.
